Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the heart of New Paltz at 70 Main Street, The Ridge Cafe is more than just your average coffee shop — it’s a vibrant community hub where creativity and warmth brew alongside every cup. Specializing in both coffee and an exceptional selection of loose-leaf teas, The Ridge invites you into a space buzzing with genuine passion for unique and customizable beverages.

One of the standout features here is their innovative concept: customers literally choose their teas straight off a wall, allowing for endless mix-and-match possibilities. Whether you're a tea connoisseur or someone dipping their toes into new flavors, this interactive approach to tea selection is truly captivating. This tailored experience ensures every sip is personally curated, offering a freshness and individuality rarely found elsewhere.

Guests rave about the drink menu, highlighting creative concoctions like the Maple Rosemary Latte and the Mango Latte brewed with oat milk, which perfectly marry bold flavors with smooth, comforting textures. The matcha, praised as some of the best in the area, offers that vibrant green hue and earthy richness that aficionados seek. Even those who do not usually gravitate towards tea find themselves enchanted by options such as the custom-blended “pieces tea with honey,” a delicate twist on classic black tea that garnered a heartfelt 10/10 from a first-time tea sipper.

Beyond the exquisite drinks, The Ridge Café exudes an inviting atmosphere that customers frequently mention. The ample seating and cozy layout make it an ideal spot not only for a quick refreshing stop but also for lingering moments—whether to read, work, or catch up with friends. The presence of a vinyl collection adds a nostalgic, soulful backdrop, elevating the sensory experience beyond just taste to include sound and ambiance.

Customer service here mirrors the quality of the offerings, with staff going above and beyond to ensure satisfaction. One touching testament recalled a staff member braving a busy day to source a customer’s favorite astrology-themed tea. Such heartfelt dedication perfectly encapsulates The Ridge’s commitment to community and personalized service.

Whether you seek a familiar caffeine fix, an adventurous new tea blend, or a welcoming nook in the bustling energy of Main Street, The Ridge Cafe delivers moments of genuine connection and exceptional flavor. Its charm lies not only in the expertly crafted drinks but in the thoughtful care with which every detail—from the wall of teas to the friendly smiles—is curated. The Ridge has officially moved onto Main St, and expanded into a great little cafe with ample seating, and a great atmosphere. Whether you need tea, coffee, spices, or a quick snack- this is the place to go. Tea and coffee (hot or iced) is entirely custom, you literally pick it off the wall. Specifically the tea. You can mix and match it however you like- honestly, it’s a really cool concept, and I’ve never seen it before. It’s only about $4-$5, and the cup is quite large for the price. One recommendation would be to label their cups! Even a waterproof sticker makes all of the difference. If you’d like, you can get tea leaves by the ounce- dry, same with spices. But, know that it doesn’t count toward your loyalty points (if that matters to you as a returning customer). They have a nice little public bathroom (I’d assume for customers only), but I will say if I could give a recommendation, it would be to upgrade to a stereotypical commercial paper towel dispenser- one that you just pull down the paper towel and it comes out. It’s more sanitary, and would lead to much less waste. Also… the soap was literally water when I washed my hands- which was the purpose of me going to the bathroom- so, maybe a commercial pump soap dispenser? Idk, just some thoughts! They have plenty seating. Outdoor, and then three separate indoor areas. One by the window which is bar stools, one by the ordering counter which is a lower bar stool, and then one at the back which is normal chairs. You’ll find something you like. They have low music playing, which is nice for people who like a vibe- but not too crazy- and they even have a “now playing” thing- which wasn’t up at the time, but I really hope they end up using it because that would be really neat. Overall, they turned the previous store that was there into a large cafe, and honestly I have no clue how they did it. And they turned their small tea/spice shop into what will now be a Main St staple. I wish them nothing but the best!

We had a wonderful mango latte that was freshly brewed with oat milk. The tea was delicious and unique and they had a great selection of loose leaf teas for purchase as well! We will be coming back again soon!

The best coffee in the whole area. Good atmosphere, good vibes. Just real coffee (the Matcha is also great).

I’m so happy this place is on Main Street where it will be appreciated to its fullest extent. I’m not the biggest tea drinker but the atmosphere and service itself convinced me to try one. I tried the pieces tea with honey and it was a twist on black tea 10/10

We stopped in while on a road trip from Delaware to Montreal. What a cool little place! It's a combination tea/coffee place. The person who helped us could not have been nicer. I had the Maple Rosemary Latte which was amazing! We would certainly frequent this place if we lived in the area. Check it out!

This place has a great selection of teas. They carry astrology tea and since I am a Gemini I had to try it. Amazing. Fast forward to last week. I was bummed it wasn't in stock. Corrinne thought she had some in her stock and immediately put on her coat ( on a busy Saturday) and went to look. She felt so bad that she didn't find any, but was getting some in that week. She said she would ship it free of charge. But the best part is she had to be in Kingston anyway the next day and delivered it to me. I will be a customer whenever I go to New Paltz.

Excellent coffee and a great little place to stop. Good vinyl collection to drink your coffee to!
